I have been reflecting on all the beautiful, courageous clients I have worked with this year, and I sit in awe and inspired. The path of pursuing a longing is not for sissies. The journey is humbling and at times can take you to your knees for an extended period. We long for a mystical union with the divine that will bring us peace and love. Most of the time, we cannot define what we are looking for. But I believe it is a feeling of wanting to go home.
Home is where we long to be seen fully, where we can be vulnerable, be ourselves, take off our mask, and engage in the most tender moments. Home is where we are our most authentic self. But we cannot get home without doing the work – our most sacred, inner work. This past year I have witnessed incredible strength and perseverance in the spirits of my clients doing their inner work – the tough stuff. As a spiritual director, I hold space to help you see that you are being called to transcend and, like the sun, rise again. And it’s a deeply humbling experience for me. You are my sunshine.
