These are some of the qualities of my mother. She has been a great teacher for me through the years. The beautiful thing about time and your parents is that, in some way, you get to see them grow in their lives. If the cards are right, we are blessed to participate right along side them throughout their lives.

As a mother myself, I have found that it is the most rewarding and yet challenging role that there is on earth. A dear Native American shaman friend said to me during one of my trips to the desert, “Being a mother is the highest honor given on earth.” I quote that phrase frequently and believe it with all my heart.

There is a delicate, invisible line somewhere that is drawn after your children are born that lets you know when it is time to let go. We get to practice this throughout their lives in small ways. We see this at the various milestones in their lives: learning to walk, first day of school, first overnight they ask to have with a friend, driving, first girlfriend or boyfriend, graduation, college, marriage…. For each one, there comes a whole new set of worries for them and a ping in our hearts… just a friendly reminder.

All of my children are at different stages in their lives right now, and my youngest is getting ready to spread her wings after she graduates from high school in three weeks. My heart is not only pinging, but I also feel like someone is sitting on my chest when I think of her graduating. I am excited for her, and I am proud of her, and I patiently sit and fill out the forms with her so she can start yet another milestone – her college experience. I am convinced that these two things, the ending of high school and the beginning of college, overlap to keep us preoccupied so that we can get through the transition emotionally. In October, I will sit back and ask myself, “What the heck happened to the final summer before she left home?” The chaos keeps us mothers from losing our minds, packing our suitcases, and following them to school. I am convinced this is the reason why my daughter chose to go 2,000 miles away!

In all seriousness, I know in my heart that my children can go away because, although letting go tugs at my heart, it is a necessary part of their development and my own. I remember my grandmother’s answer to me when I asked her to tell me, in her final days here on earth, how she did it? How did she let go of her children as gracefully as she did – time and time again? This wise, wise mother who loved with all her heart said to me, “They too have their own journey.”

Quite simply stated. Happy Mother’s Day to all who love deeply and have learned the art of letting go… gracefully.

Connection and living aligned with your truth. I could say connection to living aligned with your truth by removing the “and” in the previous sentence and truly, that sums it up.

If you are at all connected, in any way, you will be lead to the people, places, things, and experiences that are aligned with who you are.

I seem to be reminded frequently of the importance of this. For me, there is no other option. Although, I am presented with choices again and again and again to reaffirm whether I will continue to dedicate my life in this manner of truth.

Being connected to another’s heart is an essential and key component for me to be in relationship with another. I am in the last half of my life and I am not interested in trying to change someone or connect with them when there is not an equal exchange. Their inability to connect is something I peacefully can accept but again, I have choices. If there is no interest in connection on their part, then I am in peaceful acceptance – a choice – and I decide how to move forward. I am responsible for the people I choose to surround myself with and spend time with. When we are able to connect authentically, we become fulfilled because that is our true alignment with our heart.

I am elated that recently I spent a beautiful day walking amidst a redwood forest with my dear friend Anne. It was a day of non-stop connecting, which meant of course for me, barely enough time to catch our breaths from all the talking and sharing.

A PERFECT day!

Peace and in light,

Kendra

I think of his smile, his warmth, his compassion, and his love of life in spite of all that he has experienced and witnessed. I have read a lot of his books and have had the privilege of seeing him in person many times. The Dalai Lama, to me, is the embodiment of grace.

I have been a fan and follower of the Dalai for more than 25 years. One of the greatest gifts life has to offer is having a teacher that aligns with who you aspire to be. I have always been mystified by one’s ability to embody grace even in the midst of great adversity. My longing is to be amongst those beautiful teachers at some point in my life, preferably sooner than later. They are masters.

This month marks the first anniversary of writing this blog. When I first was told that it would be a good idea for me to reach out to people in this way, I was terrified. I really did not feel I could write anything worthy of interest to anyone. Oddly enough, from the very first time I put pen to paper to reach out to you, I was in love. Although the Internet does an injustice to relationships, having them be one sided a lot of times and not being able to see or meet the people who read what I write, it does provide an opportunity to fall in love in a whole different way. As I always say, energy is energy, and regardless of being able to see you or meet you, I feel incredible gratitude for the opportunity to share this space with you each month. My blog has allowed me to practice my craft, to move towards mastery. It holds me accountable for what I teach.

I wanted so badly to be able to say I was successful at blogging once a month for the first year, but I failed. In my attempt to embody grace around what I perceive as my failure, I have realized how hard I can be on myself and how I don’t allow room for myself to step outside of professional perfection. My inability to be forgiving of myself when I don’t follow through on things is truly a character flaw. That is NOT the character of a master. What is the character of a master is accepting my imperfections and standing proud in the fact that I continue to follow through to the best of my ability, in the moment. In my failure, I have found new awareness’s and truths about myself. It is in that space of not following through on my initial intention that I’ve discovered the reason why I failed. It is in the acceptance and forgiveness of failure that we discover why we failed in the first place. It is in failure, that creation is born. And that is grace.

While I was not blogging in January, I was following through with making life-changing choices that align with my own truth – life altering. It gave me an enormous opportunity to practice what I aspire to become a master of: embodying grace in the midst of great adversity. We will never become masters by reading books and listening to teachers. We must seize opportunities to make choices to continually align with what our heart’s and soul’s desire is.

The months leading up to January 2013 were filled with the chaos of holidays and the static energy of the universe that we were living in. I am an incredibly sensitive individual to energy, so the turning of the calendar page from 2012 to 2013 was not a quick release. I have had a hard time easing into 2013, and from what I gather from clients, friends, and family sharing, they feel the same. It’s as if we were picked up from one dimension and put into another and we have had to hit the ground running. It feels like a storm came through and now we are picking up the pieces and dealing with the aftermath. No time to integrate slowly.

When I finally do slow down and sit still, I am noticing that my body and mind are yearning to be taken care of. My spirit is rejoicing at the shift, but my body and mind need to catch up to what my spirit already feels. I am aware that I need to stop and smell the roses and nurture myself in ways that replenish me in equal measure to what I am giving others. I am forgiving of stretching deadlines and taking what time I need to be thoughtful – writing notes to people I need to reach out to, making lunch dates where I know it will not overload my schedule. I am making plans to slip away and unplug and disconnect, frequently, to breathe fresh life and joy into my heart. Therefore, I can be more fully present to the people and things that most matter to me.

So, it is with pleasure that I invite you to stop and take inventory of how you are feeling and what it is you need. Recalibrate in whatever way you are able to, and in the ways that will allow you to gently and deliberately move into this brand new year of 2013 – energized, renewed and excited.

Most of us have a hard time with celebrating our own efforts and triumphs. It’s easier somehow to celebrate others. In order to be fully present this season and to experience the fullness of joy and grace, please take the time to share with someone you care about, what you are doing in your life that brings excitement and happiness to your world. Let them witness your brilliance and light and courage– it will be the greatest gift you give to others. Remember, you are not alone to experience this beautiful journey you are on.

If you want to take 4 minutes to be reminded of this, click here to watch an old movie that still warms my heart.

Whatever you may be celebrating this season – Be Happy – Be Merry – Be authentically YOU!

Peace and With Love,

Kendra

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

- Marianne Williamson

Each day, when in process of a life-changing event, it is imperative to show up – more so than any other time in your life. It is during this time you must commit to showing up and following through, release all final attachment to what you are letting go of, and pray to be filled with grace. You are committing to getting through to the other side.

Who you are committing to is your authentic self. This is where your highest potential, the journey to fulfill your destiny, and to be all that you can be, is.

In that space is the vision of where you are going. At this point, where you are going should be crystal clear by activation of all 6 senses by means of envisioning where you are going. You are invoking this. Releasing final attachment to the old pattern or to whatever you are letting go of means to not continue to entertain that which drags you down. A time will come where you will choose to spend more energy in the vision, taking action steps towards what is next, than in the letting go stage. The “Act as if…” becomes more alive and more appealing at this point.

Even if your mind is not on board because you need to know the details of how this is going to happen or unfold, trust that for once, you do not need to. Surrender. And….breathe – breathe – breathe.

When choice is supported by action you do not remain in a static state, you are in process of manifesting a life you only dreamed of. That dream is the reality of your new state of being. Your dream unfolding IS your new reality. You ARE co-creating and making things happen. You have surrendered your heart to the perfect will of God. “I AM that I AM” – Exodus 3:14.

Steps to review:

What are you ready to let go of – surrender?

Where are you going (I have activated all 6 senses on this one)?

Commit to, several times daily, ritual and prayer and meditation to help navigate. FOCUS – DEDICATION – INTENTION

Gather your posse, earth and sky. Start examining at the micro level who it is you need to reign in to help support you. Remember they need to vibrate at your level or higher at this point.

Listen to your intuition, and your body. If you are sick or feeling physically out of balance, take it to the chakra (http://www.kendragoheen.com/chakra.html), and then sit with it, stay with it, calm it and claim it.

Steps to consider for this week:

Commit to showing up and following through.

Release all final attachment to what you are letting go of.

Pray to be filled with grace.

Act as if… (see yourself from the end)

Be well and in Peace,

Kendra

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an channel of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O, Lord, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

ALERT: Watch for yet another post next week, to help with this transformative time…

My voice sounds like a man, my body aches and I struggle with making a call to the MD. At first glance it’s easy to say I have a cold or bronchitis, but I know better. I don’t get sick.

I am in the middle of a transformative process and although I am a Master at guiding people through times like this, I obviously am requiring some down time to evaluate and be still with my “stuff”.

I have done my homework. I have clearly defined:

What I am ready to let go of

Where I am going (I have activated all 6 senses on this one)

I commit to, several times daily, ritual and prayer and meditation to help navigate. FOCUS – DEDICATION – INTENTION

I am also reaching out to my counsel – my fellow light workers, my circle of trust –which is comprised of two circles. My “sky” posse and my “ground” posse, I affectionately call them. My sky posse is my Divine Father, Archangels, Angels, Deities, Guides, and whoever else wants to show up for the party. My ground posse is like I mentioned, a small group of trusted light workers – my Life Coach, Spiritual Director, Spiritual Therapist, Archetypal Consultant, Astrologist, Numerologist, and a few Teachers. These are the two groups that are with me night and day, always holding space and readily available. They are my go to, my 911, and my lifelines. They get who I am from the core of my being, and can read the energy in the airwaves like nobody’s business.

I now invite you to the 4th and 5th step:

Gather your posse, earth and sky. Start examining at the micro level who it is you need to reign in to help support you. Remember they need to vibrate at your level or higher at this point.

Listen to your intuition, and your body. If you are sick or feeling physically out of balance, take it to the chakra (http://www.kendragoheen.com/chakra.html), and then sit with it, stay with it, calm it and claim it.

Breathe. Breathe. Breathe

This IS the Hero’s journey cherubs. We will all have an experience like this in our lifetime, at some point. It is our soul’s journey. Did I mention transformation is not for the faint of heart nor neat and tidy? It is like pregnancy and birth – a seed gets planted, it grows until it is time to be birthed, labor starts, pushing begins and then in order to finally give birth – we need to breathe and let go and trust and Voila! 2013 appears!

Please grant me the Grace to feel your loving presence in my heart today.

Please guide me to face and surrender my fears and allow me to trust the unknown.

Be well and In Peace,

Kendra

If you have ever run a marathon, then you know that the training involved, at least for your first one, can be long and arduous. If not, pick anything that involved focus, dedication, and intention to reach your goal.

The close of 2012 and the energy that we are in the midst of, offers great opportunity for creating a shift so significant in your life that it can actually change the course. It requires intense focus, dedication, and intention.

From last week’s blog post you received guidance on how to start this gem of a process. There were two questions that I invited you to explore first:

What am I ready to leave behind

Where am I going?

Now, I am encouraging you to invoke Grace in the midst of your surrendering, leaving all that is no longer in alignment with who you are, and boldly stepping into the “what is next”. The key here is that in order to invoke Grace, you need to be willing to surrender to the unknown – the details. You need to trust that all will be well in putting yourself back together.

The only way to invoke Grace is through the act of prayer/meditation. Start simply by creating a daily practice of this.

Sit quietly for 8 minutes.

Breathe gently and say the Lords Prayer.

You can do this when awakening and before retiring. It’s that simple.

Be intentional.

Be grateful for the experience(s) that you are in the midst of and be grateful for where you are certain you are going.

Focus – Dedication – Intention.

The Lords Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
Forever and ever.
Amen.

Watch for a new blog post next week. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact me directly, or post comments about this transformative time we are in.

Be well and in Peace,

“There is an expiration date on everything that does not serve you.” When I heard that a couple of weeks ago from one of my own teachers, I knew instantly that is exactly the energy that we are all feeling right now, that is if we are in tune with our spiritual world – our truth – our essence – our highest potential – whatever we want to call it. It is the discomfort of things that seem to have been tolerable before, but now they are not. It is a longing for something that feels more joyful, more fulfilling, and more heart centered – the more of who we are. And…no one is being left behind.

We have entered the final one-and-a-half month lap of 2012, a year that seems to have stirred a lot of still waters for people, including me. There are lots of yearnings and longings, and there are lots of potential changes and shifts. Yet, I am very clear that I cannot make any of these shifts until I have clarity about what I am ready to leave behind. That’s the first question: what am I ready to leave behind? Then I must ask, “Where am I going?” This is a process of asking the right questions. It is about knowing my self and my truth so well that I am certain everything needs to align; otherwise, it must leave. It truly is that simple for me.

This time in our world – November and December 2012 – is to be considered a pivotal time, a time when we can make things happen if we are willing to look at our blind spots that prevent us from growth. When we can envision where we are going and feel the pull of that, it is a pull that is unlike anything else we have ever felt, and it is one of Divine nature. It is about trusting and then committing to a daily practice of letting go of having to know details and holding our vibration around that.

I know that this is going on; I hear it daily from clients. If it is not occurring for you personally, it may be for a family member or friend. So I will be writing a few more blog postings than normal, with tips on how to get through this process with more ease and to help guide you through the next couple of months. It is not for the weary – transformation never is. What I can tell you is that if you ignore the call, it will come again and again until you have to pick up the phone. We want a translative experience to be transformed, but we don’t want it to be messy. It just doesn’t work that way.

I invite you to shift your perspective and look at this time as one of great potential and opportunity to become co-creator of your destiny. This is exactly where you can shift your Victim archetype and stand fully empowered in your own light, committed to not accepting anything less.

Peace and In Light

Kendra

“What-is has no bearing on what is coming unless you are continually regurgitating the story of what is. By thinking and speaking more of how you really want your life to be, you allow what you are currently living to be the jumping-off place for so much more. But if you speak predominantly of what-is, then you still jump off —but you jump off into more of the same.” — Abraham

PS. Watch for the blog post tip within the next few days on how to develop a daily practice of channeling grace through prayer.

I am ready to begin with a peaceful heart, clear mind, and clean energetic space. I am inviting and welcoming all that the Universe would like to provide me with for the day. I begin anew.It is not only the words and intention of a prayer like this but also the beautiful smell of the White Mountain sage. It is a broad leaf sage that is valued for its robust aromatic property. Sage is used in smudging, cleansing, ceremonies, rituals, purification, and meditation.If you are curious about this particular sacred ritual or are being called to start a daily ritual, I invite you to download the prayer of smudging. If you have any questions about this one or just ritual and prayer in general, please feel free to comment below.

May the blessings be!
